Financials remain under pressure near-term and following HBAN's decline yesterday, today's decline is widespread, with Financials falling to the lowest since mid-April. Stocks like AXP-3.40% AIG-1.30% PYPL-5.28% C-2.54% BK-3.26% and STT-3.91% are all down more than -2.5%. It will be important to see this sector stabilize for broad-based S&P rally to get underway, as Financials are 12.5% of SPX. near-term, i suspect a retest of April lows could be possible before Financials stabilize

Just flagging that PayPal PYPL-5.28% is a stealth crypto play
- they benefit from growth in BTC spot trading
- Their stablecoin generates fees (spread on cash)
- Stock is steadily rising small cap

Many investors still grappling with what to do with beaten down stocks that have attempted to stabilize, but just aren't moving too quickly. PYPL-5.28% fits this bill, and as clients are aware, it's no longer on Tom's GrannyShot list. Technically it's still wrong to favor rebounds in PYPL until this can prove itself, and the many attempts of rallying in recent months have all failed and turned back lower. Note the Multi-year pattern of lower highs and lower lows that defines this trend channel. For anyone "hoping" for a turnround, its necessary technically to get over $65 at a minimum and watch volume carefully. Until then, i anticipate PYPL likely works back lower into March and should pull back to the low 50s based on Technicals. Barring a breakout of longer-term trends, PYPL does not have much appeal to me

Itβs a very light week for macro data. The only real data point is CPI revisions on Friday. Tue next week 2/13 is a biggie when Jan CPI released.
